Mount Foraker

I started this project to help me to organise and do something with my ever-increasing photo collection. I enjoy being out in the hills and mountains and the great outdoors in general and this is where i have taken most of the photos included here.

Sunday afternoon family walks soon lead to more adventurous long distance walks such as the Pennine Way and West Highland Way. Wild camping trips to Scotland in the summer and then back again in the winter, where the already wild landscape is transformed and journeys to the hills become a full-on mountaineering experience. lessons learned mountaineering and ice-climbing in Scotland were invaluable as the mountains got bigger in the Alps and finally onto the Himalayas.

I’ve always enjoyed cycling and as a student looked forward to the summer holidays for long cycle touring trips in the UK and to Europe. Nowadays on the bike it’s mainly sportives and day trips on the road bike to cycle friendly places and cross-country mountain biking when the weather gets cooler. In July 2011 i had a good cycling holiday to the French Pyrenees and saw a couple of mountain stages of the Tour de France while i was there too, which i greatly enjoyed.

The cycling has come in handy as the last few years as a group of us caught the Triathlon bug and has this become another way to enjoy being in the mountains with frequent trips over to the Yorkshire Dales, Northumberland, North York Moors and Lake District to cycle the roads, swim in the lakes and run over the Fells.
